Hello everyone :D

I have always felt a very strong attraction towards Native. I'm really far from America, I'm from Canary Islands, in Europe. Did you know them? The Guanches were their first inhabitants, or at least as far as we know. Unfortunately, Guanches history is almost lost

Honestly, I'd like to meet native people. I find hard to explain the reasons of my attraction... but I think it is related to Nature and human relation with it.

Thank you,

P.W.

Thank you Ollan :D Well, more or less, hehe... a bit cold right now, but here cold is not hard. People used to call Canary Islands "the eternal spring"

Canary Islands is a typical holiday destination for Scandinavian charter tourists. Not my kind of travelling. It just seems too "touristy" for my taste. I'm sure there's lots to see and cultural happenings though. But truth is most Scandinavians spend their entire holiday at the beaches and shops down there. They don't travel to experience and learn about the locals culture. They just want the warm weather and a tan. I think it's kind of sad. Visiting a new country I like to explore, not lay on the beach all day long. :D

I'm not sure but I think it is not very expensive.

Viking Queen, you're right. Most of the people who come here for holidays only want warm weather and beach, but there is a small group of tourists who loves our green side, at least in my island, Tenerife. Honestly, I have to say our mountain is better than our beaches. But believe me, my island is really beautiful. Did you know about Teide, our volcano? Amazing =)

Sounds interesting! I'd love to stay in a small mountain village. That's getting close to culture and locals. Although I think Tenerife would be too hot for me, maybe? I'm rather sensitive to very warm climate. :)

Well, don't come in summer  The rest of the year the weather is nice, not too hot, not too cold. As I said a few days ago, people call my islands "the eternal spring"

I'm sure you will like our landscape :D

Sounds really great! :)

To ollan xolatl:
Except from America I would love to go here: Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Italy.

Those places I would love to visit!

Hi Phoenix Wing,

I love learning about various languages and cultures. Would you please share with us something about your language and culture. I would also love to learn more about the Guanches.

Sorry Theresa about the late :(

I'm really glad you want to know about my ancestors... Well, I don't know if they are, but I feel it so... I live where they used to live, and somehow I feel really connected to Guanche spirit. Moreover, a recent study establishes that all the canary people have at least a small percentage of Guanche blood :D I'd be so proud if this is really true.

Do you speak Spanish? I speak English but as it is not my mother tongue it is going to take me a short time to tell you all that I want of them :) I hope you understand.

Greetings from Tenerife

Hi Phoenix Wings,

Please don't apologize. I'm happy to see you here. I'm ashamed to say I don't speak Spanish as well as I should. Years ago, I spoke it quite well. Now I can understand and speak a bit. I was surprised about how much Spanish came to me when we were in Cabo San Lucas. Your English is very good! Yes, of course, I understand that it takes time to do research. I know that only all too well!
There is a very good reason you feel so connected to Guanche spirit. Go with that feeling! There are parts of my ancestry that I feel very strongly connected to and other parts for which I don't have the same feelings. Although I love to speak French and loved visiting France, I don't feel that strong bond with that part of my heritage even though I'm French on both sides of my family. I also don't feel a deep connection with my Welsh roots. I feel my deepest connection with my Scots, Irish, and Native American heritage. I feel more of a bond with my Scots and Native American roots than I do with my Irish ancestry.

Walk In Balance,
Deer
